Ron has lived in Uppingham in Rutland for over 20 years and joined Uppingham Town Council shortly after his early retirement as East Midlands Regional Director of the Local Government Management Board.

He has over 40 years public, private and social enterprise management and leadership experience as a community leader, senior manager and volunteer. Upon being elected Town Mayor some years ago, Ron worked with partners to create the award winning elected community partnership, Uppingham First and the town's elected Neighbourhood and Business Forums. Ron is a Neighbourhood Planning Champion and principal author of a series of economic and social planning documents for Uppingham including 'Uppingham 2025', the 'Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan' and the 'Uppingham Town Centre and Business Zone Plan'

Ron is the Chair of the Staffing Committee.
