Parks & Open Spaces
The Uppingham Town Council is the custodian of three expansive open spaces, namely Tod's Piece, Beast Hill, and Hog Hill. Among these, Tod's Piece stands as the largest, situated in close proximity to the town centre.
Tod's Piece accommodates several notable institutions including the Uppingham Town Football Club, Uppingham Bowls Club, and the 1st Uppingham Scouts. Furthermore, it boasts play equipment catering to various age groups, a designated football pitch, and a skate park. Adjacent to the skate park lies a meticulously landscaped garden fashioned in the likeness of Rutland County. Along the boundary adjoining Gainsborough Road, one can find trees graciously donated by Uppingham School as part of the Millennium Project. It is imperative to note that this park is subject to local byelaws, prominently displayed on-site.
Beast Hill and Hog Hill, positioned off South View in close proximity to the town centre, are integral features of the Uppingham Heritage Trail. As their nomenclature suggests, both sites offer panoramic vistas of the southern expanse of Uppingham. Notably, Hog Hill now boasts an art installation with a locomotive theme, prominently positioned overlooking Station Road.
Hog Hill is located off South View Road close to the Town Centre. The art installation features a locomotive theme in honour of the Town's old railway line.
Beast Hill which was also referred to as the 'pound' or 'pinfold' also features in the Uppingham Heritage Trail, and is located to the right of Old School close to the Town Centre. The Uppingham pinfold dates back to the C12 and lay within the lordship of the 'Preston with Uppingham Manor'.

Uppingham Skate Park
After undergoing an extensive construction process, the Skate Park situated on Tod's Piece was officially unveiled in April 2016. This concrete structure had been eagerly awaited and has since emerged as a prominent attraction, accommodating a diverse array of recreational activities.
The financing for this endeavour was sourced from Town Council designated reserves, supplemented by a substantial grant from WREN. The total project expenditure upon completion amounted to just under £85,000, representing a much-needed upgrade from the previous wooden infrastructure.

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of young users, we kindly request compliance with the provided safety guidelines, utilization of appropriate safety equipment, and the conscientious disposal of litter in the nearby receptacles.
In January 2018, the Lions Club of Rutland generously contributed £5,000 towards the installation of a meeting point seat adjacent to the skate park. With the total cost exceeding £6,000, the Town Council graciously covered the deficit. This commemorative seat stands as a testament to the Lions Club of Rutland's centenary anniversary, marking a century of invaluable service to the community."
